The world has had an interest in robots for many years, but nowhere more so than Japan where there is a fascination with robotics. This can be attributed to their passion for technology where they are pioneers but also through other areas of Japanese culture like anime and video games where you will often see robots.

Tokyo is an amazing place to visit if you have an interest in technology and you are sure to encounter and all kinds of incredible robots during your stay here. Here are 5 of the best places to find robots in Tokyo.

The Miraikan National Museum of Science and Innovation

Located in Odaiba, this superb museum has all kinds of impressive exhibitions with some robots which are remarkably lifelike and advanced. It is a fascinating place to visit and somewhere that you can see the latest in robotic developments.

Softbank Stores

Visit the flagship Softbank stores in Tokyo and you will encounter Pepper – a robot which is capable of analyzing your facial expressions and guess your mood as well as make small talk. There are a handful of other large departments stores which feature impressive robots and sell all kind of amazing gadgets, tech and components similar to what is available at RS.

Honda Welcome Plaza

Head to the Honda Welcome Plaza to see a recognizable face in Asimo. Asimo was first unveiled back in 2000 by Honda as a humanoid robot that has since been all around the world and performed for crowds. There are regular demos and photo opportunities with the robot that can carry out an impressive range of tasks.

Odaiba

The imposing Unicorn Gundam in Odaiba stands at a mighty 19.7 meters and is based on the robot from the cult sci-fi novel and anime character that is much loved in Japan. The model has “Destroy mode” with flashing lights and “Unicorn mode” with a horn and a night there is music and a projection experience that is something to behold.

Robot Restaurant, Kabukicho

This remarkable restaurant in Kabukicho is a feast for the senses with a stunning pop culture show, impressive robots, lasers and dancers – the food is pretty good too! This is quite unlike any other restaurant in the world and somewhere with plenty of unique robots which sure to dazzle visitors.

Japan is certainly leading the pack when it comes to robotics and it is something of a fascination here. Tokyo is, of course, a hub for robotics and the above are just a few of the best places to see some of the world’s most amazing and technologically advanced robots. Those with an interest in technology, robotics, anime and video games will certainly feel at home here and be blown away with what is on show.
