It seems that Google is interested in blogging these days. With hundreds of millions of blogs on the Internet, it’s little wonder that a giant company such as Google is looking to make its mark in the blogging industry.
Google just recently launched a cool little app called Blog Compass. Currently available to people in India, the app “helps bloggers manage their site and find topics to write about,” according to the description on Google Play.
The app suggests trending topics based on your interests and posting history, and also allow you to track your blog’s stats and moderate comments. Google Compass also has a “learning center” where you can view and read lessons on how to make your blog more successful.
Blog Compass works with Blogger.com as well WordPress, two of the most widely used blogging platforms.
The app looks like a centralized hub of Google tools such as Google Analytics and Google Trends. This is quite useful if you want to get instantly updated on the health and performance of your blog. Based on the screenshots, the app also lets you know the status of your blog posts, such as how many many viewers it has, the average time spent on the site, and if your article is crawled and indexed by Google.
Google Compass looks quite promising. Too bad, I won’t be able to test it personally because it’s not yet available in the Philippines. Hopefully, Google will make this app available to the bloggers outside India.
