E-commerce platform Shopee has launched Shopee Scholars, a university scholarship grant for sellers’ children. Scholarship grants worth ₱100,000 each will be awarded to deserving college and university students.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the seller must be active on the Shopee platform for at least 6 months with a shop rating of no less than 4 stars, while the child must be an incoming college student or is currently enrolled in college. The scholarship nominee must also have excellent academic standing with co-curricular activities.
Each seller can nominate only one child. The nomination period starts on July 18, 2019 and ends on August 2, 2019.
To nominate a child, sellers must fill out and submit this online form. The Shopee Scholars nominee must write and submit an essay.
Winners will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Academic Standing = 50%
- Essay = 50%
- Content Information = 30%
- Quality of Writing = 15%
- Grammar and Usage = 5%
The scholarship program is applicable only to accredited tertiary schools and universities in the Philippines. Nominees who are already scholars of other scholarship programs are not qualified to participate in the Shopee Scholars program.
Winners will be announced on August 9, 2019 via a push notification or through Shopee’s social media accounts.
