Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian said there is no delay in the payout of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance. He said the ₱2,000 aid for qualified beneficiaries is released on a fixed schedule.
Gatchalian made the statement in an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo on Tuesday. It followed questions from the public about the timing of the payout.
According to the DSWD chief, UPLIFT payouts are carried out from the 14th to the 16th day of each month. He said the second batch of qualified beneficiaries is now being processed. He added that the batch is expected to receive the aid within those dates in October.
Gatchalian also said the Social Security System (SSS) is expanding its list of low-wage earners who will receive UPLIFT Assistance. He said more time is needed to identify the newly qualified beneficiaries and to activate their basic deposit accounts.
New beneficiaries will be notified through the MySSS application, Gatchalian said. He urged them to update their records and submit other requirements.
He explained that beneficiaries who are still waiting do not mean the program is delayed. According to Gatchalian, a schedule and a set of procedures must be followed before the assistance is released.
Bombo Radyo Iloilo reported the interview. The statements above are attributed to Secretary Gatchalian as reported in that interview. Tech Pilipinas has not independently verified the payout schedule or beneficiary lists with the DSWD or the SSS.
