Turn your unused or extra load to cash in your GCash wallet

Maybe you have extra prepaid load that you no longer have any use for, so you’re wondering if you can turn your unused load to cold, hard cash. Is it really possible to transfer or convert your prepaid load to GCash funds?

The short answer is no, you can’t convert load to GCash – at least on the GCash app. GCash used to offer users the ability to turn Globe prepaid load to GCash funds way back in 2016.

It involved visiting a now-defunct website (www.mgcash.globe.com.ph) and then inputting your phone number and the load amount that you wanted to convert. Many things have changed since then and the vast majority of GCash users are now using the mobile app which now doesn’t have the feature to convert or transfer regular load to GCash.

In the past, you can convert your load to GCash funds on the mobile app. You simply select “Cash In,” choose “Prepaid Load to GCash” and then select the desired amount to convert. After converting your prepaid load, you will receive a text notification informing you of the successful transaction.

There are also plenty of YouTube videos that supposedly teach you how to convert your extra load to GCash funds. The problem is, almost all these videos teach a method that no longer works.

It instructs you to buy a “treat” on Share Treats using your cellphone load, convert it to CLiQQ wallet balance, and then redeem it for GCash at 7-Eleven convenience stores. The problem is, 7-Eleven no longer allows you to cash-in from CLiQQ to GCash, although you can still use your CLiQQ balance to buy items at 7-Eleven.

Even if the Share Treats/CLiQQ/7-Eleven method works, the high conversion fee (you’ll have to pay ₱135 load to buy ₱100 cash) and the inconvenience of visiting the 7-Eleven store make it an unattractive proposition.

All hope is not lost, however. There are still several ways to convert your unused load to GCash, and we’ll discuss them in this article. Keep in mind that these services may charge you additional fees to convert your load to GCash, so you will not get the exact cash equivalent of your prepaid load.

Convert Load to GCash with Load2Cash App

The Load2Cash app converts your prepaid load to cash from any network that supports direct carrier billing such as Globe and Smart. As of this writing, the app has a 2.5 average rating on Google Play, so take the time to read the reviews and decide if it’s right for you.

Convert load to GCash

Load2Cash charges a 50% fee for every load-to-cash transaction, which means that you will receive ₱0.50 cash for every ₱1 load. On top of that, there is a 12% tax levied by the telco network.

For example, if you convert your ₱100 load, you will get ₱50 in cash, and an additional ₱12 tax (12% of ₱100) will be charged to your account. All in all, you will have to spend ₱112 load to receive ₱50 cash.

Another thing to consider is that Load2Cash processes payments on the 20th day of the next month. For example, cashout requests made from May 1 to 31 will be paid out on June 20.

If you don’t mind the exorbitant fees and the long waiting time to receive your cashout, then Load2Cash is a viable option to convert your load to GCash. Personally, we don’t mind the sky-high fees as long as we’ll receive the money immediately, but with a waiting period of 20 days or more, this service is too impractical for many.

Convert Load to GCash with Load to Cash App

Load to Cash is an Android app that claims to convert your prepaid load to GCash. Just like Load2Cash, the Load to Cash app uses direct carrier billing to charge your load balance and pays out to GCash, PayMaya, Coins.ph and selected banks.

As the app is still in development mode, users cannot post reviews (users can only send private feedback to the developer). Thus, we cannot assure you that the Load to Cash app is a legitimate and reliable service. If you have any doubts and apprehensions about this app, don’t use it. We don’t recommend using this app due to the lack of reviews. Use this app at your own risk!

Convert load to GCash

The app provides a computation of fees charged by the telco and the gateway or payment processor. In the example, ₱500 load incurs a ₱60 telco fee and a ₱200 gateway fee, which means that you will need ₱560 load balance to get ₱300 cash.

Load conversion takes two days to complete. After the conversion, you may request a cashout by selecting your preferred outlet (GCash, PayMaya, Coins.ph, BDO and BPI) and providing your account number.

Cashouts will be paid on the next month. The app will give you the exact date you will receive the payment after you submit a cashout request.

Trade Your Load for GCash

Load to GCash groups on Facebook

Another way to convert your extra load to GCash is to find a reliable trader or money exchange service on Facebook. There are several load-to-GCash traders on Facebook so all you have to do is to search for “load to GCash” and you will see several Facebook pages that offer to transfer or convert your cellphone load to GCash. There are also Facebook groups that you can join.

Always remember that scammers are everywhere on Facebook, so make sure that you choose a trustworthy trader that has several positive reviews from legitimate customers to avoid getting scammed. Read the comments, ask questions and request for proofs of transactions before trusting a trader with your prepaid load.

Sell Your Prepaid Load for Cash

If dealing with third-party services is not your cup of tea, then you can convert your load to GCash the old-fashioned way. You can sell your prepaid load to someone else and have them pay you through GCash.

The disadvantage with this method is that you’ll have to find someone who already has a GCash account, is on the same mobile network, and is willing to buy load from you. Why would they buy load from you when they can do it directly on the GCash app, right?

The key is to offer your prepaid load at a much cheaper price than buying it on the GCash app. For instance, you can sell your ₱100 load for only ₱80. This will persuade them to accept your offer because it saves them money.

After they accept your offer, you can transfer the load to their mobile number and in return, they will send the money to you through GCash. Or they will pay you first before you transfer the load, whichever is amenable to both of you.

If you don’t know how to transfer load, we’ve laid out the steps to transfer your prepaid load to a Globe or Smart mobile number.

How to Transfer Load to Globe

To transfer your prepaid load to a Globe mobile number, simply text the load amount to 2 + 10-digit number, replacing the prefix “0” with the number “2.” For example, 100 and send to 29123456789.

Check out this article to know how to transfer regular load to a Globe number.

How to Transfer Load to Smart

The easiest way to transfer load in Smart is to text the 11-digit number<space>amount and send to 808. For example, type 09123456789 50 and send to 808.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I directly convert my prepaid load to GCash?

No, it is no longer possible to directly convert mobile load (e.g., Globe, Smart, TNT, Sun, or Dito) to GCash. Globe deactivated this feature in February 2017 due to fraudulent activities. However, there are alternative methods and third-party apps or services you can use, though they come with risks and fees.

What are the available options for converting load to GCash?

You can use third-party apps like Load2Cash or Load to Cash, which claim to convert your prepaid load to GCash using direct carrier billing.

Alternatively, you can find traders or money exchange services on platforms like Facebook who offer to convert your load to GCash. Another old-fashioned method is to sell your prepaid load to someone who will pay you via GCash, but this requires finding a willing buyer.

Are third-party apps like Load2Cash and Load to Cash safe to use?

The safety of these apps is uncertain. We don’t recommend using these apps due to potential risks, and users should proceed at their own risk. Always research and check for reviews or proofs of transactions before using such services.

What are the fees involved in converting load to GCash through third-party apps?

Fees can be high. For instance, Load2Cash deducts a 50% transaction fee plus a 12% tax, meaning if you convert ₱100 worth of load, you might only receive ₱38 in GCash. Load to Cash charges a ₱60 telco fee and a ₱200 gateway fee for a ₱500 load, resulting in only ₱300 in cash.

How can I find a reliable trader on Facebook to convert my load to GCash?

Search for “load to GCash” on Facebook to find traders. Choose one with multiple positive reviews from legitimate customers. Read comments, ask questions, and request proof of previous transactions to avoid scams. Be cautious, as scammers are prevalent on social media platforms.

What is the old-fashioned way to convert load to GCash?

You can sell your prepaid load to someone who has a GCash account and is willing to buy it at a cheaper price than what’s available on the GCash app. For example, offer your load at a discount in exchange for GCash funds. This method requires negotiation and trust, as the buyer must send you the agreed-upon GCash amount after receiving the load.

How long does it take for load conversion to complete through third-party apps?

Load conversion through apps like Load to Cash can take up to two days to complete. After conversion, you can request a cashout, which will be paid out the following month, with the exact date provided after submission.

Final Considerations

It’s really unfortunate that GCash has turned off the ability to transfer or convert your Globe prepaid load to GCash funds.

But as the old cliché goes, where there’s a will, there’s a way. You can rely on third-party traders and money exchange services to turn your unused cellphone load to cash. Alternatively, you can sell your load to a friend if they have a GCash account.

There may be other methods to convert your load to GCash, so we will update this article once we’ve found them. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to let us know by commenting below.
