The eGovPH app now includes a built-in AI assistant called eGovAI, giving Filipinos free access to a chatbot, real-time translator, and document tools without leaving the government’s mobile platform.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. announced the feature in an interview, describing eGovAI as a free alternative to ChatGPT.
eGovAI combines several tools in one section of the app. An AI Assistant chatbot answers questions and directs users to government services at any hour. A Translator supports multiple languages for citizens who prefer to transact in their own dialect. A Document Extractor uses OCR to pull text from scanned forms and IDs, and an Image Identifier recognizes everyday objects. The app also includes a Coder tool for writing and debugging code, a Speech Maker for drafting speeches, a Laws and Regulation lookup for national and local policies, and a Tourism guide covering Philippine destinations.
The feature arrived alongside other updates to eGovPH. The app also gained eGovDocs, which lets users sign documents digitally without a pen, and expanded access to Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, and Yakap program benefits, including financial and medical assistance. More local government units have joined the platform, allowing residents to apply for business, sanitary, and construction permits directly through the app.
eGovPH has passed 36 million downloads, already ahead of DICT’s original target of 30 million by 2028. The agency is now targeting 40 million downloads by the end of 2026 and 60 million by 2028.
Almirol also warned Filipinos against fake websites that imitate the official eGovPH platform, which he said are used to collect personal data and can lead to identity theft.
eGovAI is available now to anyone with the eGovPH app installed. No separate download or account is required beyond an existing eGovPH login.
