The Social Security System (SSS) is expanding SSS LoanLite beyond its first two bank partners, with state-run Land Bank of the Philippines confirmed to join the program later this year and at least one more lender expected after that.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro disclosed the plan on August 11 in Makati, where the pension fund formally rolled out LoanLite through Rizal Commercial Banking Corp.’s (RCBC) DiskarTech app. De Claro said Landbank is “next in line” for a partnership, to be followed by another lender he did not name. He added that the program is open to any bank registered in good standing with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
UnionBank: the first partner
Union Bank of the Philippines was the first bank to sign on to SSS LoanLite, with the two institutions signing a memorandum of understanding in September 2025, SSS said in an official statement.
UnionBank President and CEO Ana Aboitiz Delgado called it the bank’s role as “the first banking partner for SSS’ upcoming micro loan program” at the signing, held in Cebu during a joint event marking 40 years of partnership between SSS and UnionBank. The tie-up allows eligible SSS members who are also UnionBank customers to apply for loans through the UnionBank app.
UnionDigital Bank: a separate partnership under the same parent company
UnionDigital Bank (UD), a BSP-licensed digital-only subsidiary of UnionBank, runs its own LoanLite integration separate from its parent bank’s. UD first previewed the partnership in July 2026, when UnionDigital Head of Brand and Communications Kim Dy-Tenchavez told reporters at a Hapinoy Caravan event in Novaliches, Quezon City that members would be able to access LoanLite through the UD app “within the year.”
The service officially launched that April, with UnionDigital saying the rollout would prioritize Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Loan proceeds under the UD partnership are credited directly to a member’s UD Save account, giving borrowers access to UnionDigital’s broader suite of products, including fee-free InstaPay transfers.
RCBC DiskarTech: the newest rollout
RCBC joined as SSS LoanLite’s second bank partner, with a memorandum of agreement signed in April 2026, and the program formally launched on August 11. Loans are disbursed through RCBC’s DiskarTech app, building on the two institutions’ earlier MySSS Card partnership, which grew from 66,000 to more than 614,000 cardholders in ten months and disbursed ₱2.69 billion in benefits in the first half of 2026, according to BusinessWorld.
Under the RCBC rollout, SSS has set aside an initial ₱2 billion of a ₱40-billion fund earmarked for LoanLite over the next two to three years. Eligibility requirements were also lowered, from 24 months of posted contributions to 12 months, and employer certification is no longer required. RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva said, “RCBC is just a conduit, a channel, or a digital platform that will enable SSS members to avail of the loan.”
Following a 500-member pilot, De Claro said he expects the program to disburse ₱50 million to ₱100 million daily, or roughly ₱3 billion a month, once fully operational, per the BusinessWorld report.
Other banks planning to join LoanLite
Landbank is the next confirmed addition to the LoanLite roster, though SSS has not announced a specific launch date. De Claro said an unnamed lender would follow Landbank, without providing further details. SSS has framed the expansion as open-ended rather than limited to a fixed list of partners, with De Claro stating that any BSP-registered bank in good standing is eligible to apply.
SSS LoanLite offers loans of ₱1,000 to ₱20,000, repayable over 15, 30, 60, or 90 days at 8 percent interest per annum. Partner banks may charge a transaction fee of up to ₱200 per loan availment; SSS does not take a share of that fee. SSS said it will review borrower activity over the next six months to decide whether the ₱20,000 loan ceiling and current LoanLite funding need to be adjusted.
