Himel Presents X Series Drives at MARVEX 2026 for Building and Industrial Control

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — In a high-rise building, a water pump may need to respond to changing demand throughout the day. On a production line, a motor may face repeated starts and shifts in load. Himel brought these distinct control needs into focus at MARVEX 2026, an ASEAN exhibition for the HVAC&R industry held alongside ENGINEER in Kuala Lumpur from 22 to 25 September. The company presented its new X Series variable speed drive (VSD) and wider electrical portfolio in discussions with partners and customers.

Founded in Spain in 1958, Himel supplies electrical products in more than 60 countries. Its portfolio spans power distribution, motor control and protection, industrial components and home electrical solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications. Himel is committed to expanding access to safe electricity through affordable, reliable products.

The display brought together X Series drives, smart relay controllers, Energy Management & Building Automation (EBA), industrial control components, low-voltage power distribution and final distribution. In a building or industrial facility, a drive is part of a wider sequence of control signals, protection and power supply. Himel used the regional exhibition to show how those elements can be considered together and applied to projects in the Philippines.

For HVAC systems, fans and pumps, the HAVXP Series spans 0.75–800 kW and includes built-in PID control, multi-pump operation and master-slave functions. In a high-rise water system, pressure feedback can guide a booster pump as demand changes. In PFC/SPFC mode, one drive can control up to four pumps; in Intelligent Pump Control (IPC) mode, the system can use up to eight drives and pumps. Automatic changeover and bypass modes provide further options for planning pump rotation and water-service continuity. Project design determines which arrangement is appropriate. For air-handling fans, the control task centres on responding to airflow requirements.

The HAVXH Series, rated from 0.4–710 kW, offers V/F, open-loop vector and closed-loop vector control for general industrial machinery; closed-loop operation requires suitable feedback. It also offers up to 16 speed stages per cycle for machines with repeated operating steps.

At normal-duty rating, both families support 120% overload for one minute and 150% for three seconds, with over-voltage, over-current, overload and motor-overheating protection. Coated circuit boards, dust shielding and redesigned cooling channels are intended to support operation in demanding environments.

The work continues through commissioning and integration. X Studio software supports offline parameter setup, live monitoring of current, voltage and frequency, and fault diagnosis. Its fault-code library and diagnostic reports give maintenance teams a documented starting point when an alarm occurs. Built-in RS485/Modbus RTU and optional cards for protocols including Modbus TCP, Profinet, Bacnet and EtherCAT provide ways to exchange data with building-management or plant-control systems, subject to the selected configuration. Smart relays and EBA can take on other control and energy-management tasks according to the overall design.

“Himel brings together a complete control solution, connecting essential control and protection devices with variable speed drives, smart automation and building energy management. By bringing these technologies together, we help customers achieve smarter control, greater visibility and better energy efficiency across their operations. That’s I Love Control in action,” said Xiaoyu Shen, Offer Marketing, Offer Group Manager at Himel.

In the Philippines, high-rise buildings, manufacturing and food-and-beverage facilities call for different approaches to motor control. Beyond MARVEX, Himel will continue supporting distributors, consultants, partners and customers with reliable, accessible and affordable electrical solutions. By sharing application knowledge and technical support, it aims to strengthen local capabilities as the needs of buildings and industry evolve.
