Do you know that you can transfer funds from your BDO account to another bank in the Philippines? Thanks to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and InstaPay, you can move your money from one bank to another in real time through the Internet.

InstaPay is an Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system that allows customers to transfer funds almost instantly between accounts of participating BSP-supervised banks as well as non-bank e-money issuers. Individuals, businesses and government institutions can send and receive money, or make payments, in real time with no limits at up to 50,000 pesos per transaction.

Transactions can be performed anytime of the day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through online banking websites and mobile apps by participating banks and e-money issuers.

With InstaPay, customers will no longer have to personally go to banks and payment counters to transfer funds or make payments. Everything can be done online. The receiving party will receive the transferred funds in full, but charges may apply to sending parties.

So how do you transfer money from one bank to another, say BDO to BPI?

How to Transfer Funds From BDO to BPI (Or Other Local Banks)

First, make sure that you have an active BDO online banking account. If you don’t have a BDO online banking account, sign up here.

Step 1: Log in to your BDO online banking account. Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number connected to your account.

Step 2: After successfully logging in, hover your mouse cursor over “Send Money” and click “To Another Local Bank.”

Step 3: Fill out the sender and receiver details, as follows:

  • Settlement Type: Credit to Another Local Bank
  • Transaction Type: Credit to Other Bank
  • Transfer From (your BDO account)
  • Amount (the amount of money you want to send)
  • Destination Bank (choose from the dropdown list of participating banks)
  • Destination Account Number (enter the bank account number of the recipient)
  • Receiver Name (name of your recipient)
  • Mobile Number (cellphone number of your recipient)
  • Purpose of Transaction

Take note that if you are transferring money to a BPI account, you must choose “BPI / BPI Family Savings Bank via InstaPay” and not “BPI Family Savings Bank 10-Digits.” BPI is different from BPI Family Savings Bank.

You may also check “Save as New Template” to save your provided information for future use. Click “Submit” when you’re finished.

Step 4: Review the information you provided to ensure that they are correct, then click “Continue.”

Step 5: Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your mobile number.

Step 6: You will be informed if your transaction is successful. Take note of the reference number.

The transfer fee from BDO to other banks (e.g. BPI, Metrobank, Landbank) is ₱25. Online BDO to BDO transfers are free.

When will the money arrive at my recipient’s bank account?

Transfers are credited to the recipient’s account almost immediately.

Hi! Nag search kasi ako kung paano mag send ng pera from BDO to BPI. And found this. My question is, sa mobile banking, wala akong nakitang option dun na Bank of the Philippine Island. Kaya naguguluhan ako kung saan mag sesend. May BPI/BPI Family Savings via Instapay, at BPI Family Savings Bank. Eh yung huhulugan ko is not Family Savings Bank. Saan ba ako mag sesend? TY!

Just be patient because the money will eventually reflect in the recipient’s account. It seems that there are many people withdrawing or transferring their money online and this may have caused a system slowdown.

Hello, non-Instapay transfers made before 2pm will be credited on the same day. But sometimes there might be delays in the transfer especially nowadays that many are using online banking. As far as I know, only banking days are counted so your money might be in your account by Monday at the earliest.

That’s really unfortunate. Was the money deducted from your BDO account? Did you enter the correct recipient information? If the transfer was unsuccessful, the money will be returned to your BDO account. If not, then the fund transfer is still being processed. You can try commenting on BDO’s Facebook page as they’re answering questions there.

BPI is different from BPI Family Savings Bank. So if you intended to send money to a BPI account but instead you sent it to BPI Family Savings Bank, then it’s a mistake. But the money will be returned to your BDO account in that case.

Transfering fund from BDO to BPI but i confusingly chose the BPI Family Savings Bank (10 Digits) seeing the 10 digits shown in the description makes me decide to used this instead of BPI/BPI Family Savings Bank via Instapay. I think this is a common mistake from users since we are not familiar with their difference.Maybe the BDO should take some course of action for this, since right now we are on the crisis and time is the essence, we need to support our family however with this case we need to wait first to return the money. I Would like to know how long will it take?

Hi sir goodevening. Nagsend ako kanina via bdo mobile banking to psbank. (Instay) so dapat magrereflect sya agad. Kaso di pa nareceive ng receiver pero nabawas na sa balance ko. Wala din email sakin na successful yung transaction. Pano po kaya gagawin ko? Thank you po sa pagsagot.

BDO is having delays in their interbank transfers right now. You can wait for fund transfer to complete or contact BDO for assistance.

The template is what you will use next time if you transfer money to the same account. The template name and description can be anything.

Hello Sir, question po. I transferred money from right account number but wrong destination bank. Dapat po RCBC kaso pagkakita ko po di ko pala sya napaltan, it was transferred to ABN Amro Bank but the other filled up details were correct. I tried calling customer care pero sobrang tagal po sumagot huhu. Medyo malaki po yung money, mababalik pa po kaya sya without informing the customer care to cancel the transaction made? Thanks to reply po!

No, you don’t need to enroll your Metrobank account. Yes, there’s a limit of 50,000 pesos per transaction with InstaPay transfers.

    Good day,
My account number is 12-digit and I want to use InstaPay but I don’t know the correct 10-digit based on my 12-digit account number. Is there any format? Thank you

You cannot use a 12-digit account number if only a 10-digit number is required. So unfortunately, you will have to use the other option that is not Instapay.
