Do you want to activate dark mode in Facebook and Messenger? Several studies have shown that a dark screen is easier on the eyes, especially if you’re staring at your phone or computer for long hours. In this article, we’ll teach you how to enable Facebook dark mode on your desktop or mobile phone.

Light-on-dark color schemes, or the so-called “dark mode,” are becoming more popular in many desktop and mobile applications. Many people who look at computer screens for several hours, such as computer programmers, have started to switch to a light text on a dark background to help increase visual acuity and reduce eye fatigue. A dark screen also reduces blue light that can interfere with a good night’s sleep.

An study by Google has also shown that dark screens save battery life by as much as 60%. So if you browse Facebook or chat on Messenger a lot, you might want to enable dark mode not only to help reduce eye strain and fatigue, but also to prolong the life of your phone battery.

Enabling dark mode is really easy and only takes a few seconds of your time but the benefits are manifold. You will notice that the screen is much easier and more comfortable on the eyes after you activate dark mode. If you don’t like a dark screen, you can always switch back to the default light screen with just a few clicks.

To switch to the new design, go to Settings and choose the option that says “see new Facebook.” You will not be able to activate dark mode in the old, classic design.
