Launching ecosystems, regional focus, and security: key development areas for international sports platforms

Sports online platforms have a unique approach to scaling compared to other products. A universal operating model for different markets will not deliver the desired results in this case. Platform standardization, interface localization, and local currency support are important, but they are not enough to enter a new region. That is why international brands in this industry, including 1xBet, are transforming their services into full-scale ecosystems that remain highly flexible for local adaptation.

Sports online platform ecosystem

Top international brands offer more than just sports online entertainment websites. They have built mobile-first platforms and launched full-featured iOS and Android apps to provide maximum convenience for users who prefer smartphones and tablets. This is a strategically forward-looking decision, as experts estimate that 75-80% of all user activity comes from mobile traffic.

At the same time, sports ecosystems have created a completely new user experience by expanding their core functionality. A single product now provides live streams of the most exciting matches, statistics, analytics, and plenty of useful content. Modern online platforms have replaced dozens of separate sports services.

However, interactivity remains the key structural element of such ecosystems. Access to global and local sports events with attractive terms, combined with exciting offers, attracts users and boosts engagement. Therefore, mobile adaptation and feature expansion develop alongside the platforms’ core direction rather than replacing it.

Regional focus instead of international control

For a long time, sports online services operated under universal licenses. The most respected international regulator was the Curaçao certification center. In the 2010s, Europe began introducing local supervisory authorities. Spain was one of the first countries to follow this path, establishing the specialized DGOJ regulator in 2011.

Countries across other continents have adopted and further developed the European approach. In Latin America, a regulated online entertainment industry has emerged in Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, and Panama. Local oversight authorities have achieved technological breakthroughs and used artificial intelligence to take user behavior risk monitoring to a new level.

Africa has developed a two-level regulatory system. Nigeria and Kenya became pioneers in launching transparent local online entertainment industries, while other countries are still developing and improving their legislation. The uniqueness of the African approach lies in replacing restrictions and bureaucracy with education and communication. The region has many educational projects focused on promoting responsible gaming, while operator support teams stay connected with users and provide assistance whenever needed.

Local regulation has helped drive industry growth and benefit all participants. Users gained access to safer platforms and verified payment solutions, governments received additional revenue from licensing and taxes, and operators gained a transparent environment for reliable operations and long-term strategy implementation.

Security in online entertainment industry

Security in this sector consists of two key components: the operator’s compliance with local supervisory requirements and a strong international reputation reflected in positive player reviews, the absence of conflicts, and global sponsorships and partnerships.

For example, 1xBet has 20 years of industry experience and licenses in 35 countries, with the platform regularly visited by 10 million users. Its interface is available in 73 languages. The brand also has an extensive partnership portfolio, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Italy’s Serie A, FIBA, Billie Jean King Cup, Volleyball World, The MongolZ, 9z, Aurora, and other sports and esports organizations.

The brand’s ambassador team includes world-famous UFC fighters Conor McGregor, Carlos Prates, and Jiří Procházka, as well as popular esports influencer James Banks. All these partnerships strengthen its global position.

1xBet is a comprehensive ecosystem that combines a wide range of interactive entertainment options, global recognition, and regional flexibility to create the best user experience on a single platform.
