The SSS payment reference number or PRN is what you will use when paying for your SSS monthly contributions as a voluntary member or OFW. The SSS PRN is required by most online and offline payment channels like Bayad Center, GCash and banks, as well as SSS offices.

If you’re a voluntary or OFW member of the SSS, you will receive your payment reference numbers via text message (usually once a month). But if you have not received a text message containing your PRN (or if you lost it), you can get your PRN through the SSS mobile app or the SSS website. You can simply log in through the app or your My.SSS account and you will see a list of your active payment reference numbers.

Each SSS payment reference number is unique and can be used only once. After you’ve paid using your PRN, you can no longer use it for future payments. However, you can request a new PRN by generating it on your SSS mobile app or My.SSS account.

Generating a new PRN can be useful if you want to split an existing PRN into smaller amounts. For example, if a PRN has an applicable period of April to June, you can generate a new payment reference number that covers only the month of April.

In this article, we’ll teach you how to get your SSS PRN through various methods like online, text and telephone. We will also teach you how to generate a new PRN online through the SSS website and mobile app.

How to View and Generate Your SSS PRN Using the Mobile App

Step 1: Open the SSS mobile app

Open the SSS mobile app and login to your My.SSS account. If you don’t have the app installed on your phone yet, you can download it from Google Play (for Android users) or the App Store (for iOS users).

If you don’t have a My.SSS account yet, click here to register for a free account. You may read this article to learn how to register and activate your My.SSS account.

Step 2: Generate a new PRN

Once logged in on your SSS app, tap “Generate PRN” button at the bottom of the screen to see a list of your active SSS payment reference numbers.

Each PRN has the applicable period in months, due date and total amount to be paid.

How to generate SSS PRN

You can generate a new PRN if you want to change the applicable period or contribution amount. For example, if your PRN covers three months of contributions, you can generate a new PRN to cover only one month.

To generate a new payment reference number, click “CREATE” on the top-right corner of the screen.

If you have existing PRNs, a confirmation dialog will appear. Press “GENERATE.”

Step 3: Enter your new PRN details

Now you need to enter the details of your new PRN. Provide the required information as follows:

  • Membership Type – Choose “Voluntary” or “OFW” depending on your membership type.
  • Applicable Period – Select the month or months that you want to pay for. For example, if you want to pay your contributions for the month of January 2023, choose “January 2023” for both the “From” and “To” fields.
  • Monthly Contribution – Select the amount of your SSS monthly contribution. Check out this article for the latest SSS contribution table.

Press “SUBMIT” when you’re done filling out the form.

A confirmation dialog will appear with the details of your new PRN. Tap “OK” to generate the new PRN.

Step 4: View your PRN and SOA

Your new PRN and statement of account (SOA) have now been generated. The SOA contains your payment reference number, payable amount, and applicable period, as well as a payment slip that you can present to an SSS-accredited bank or payment center.

To download the SOA, simply tap the download button at the upper-right corner of the screen.

Your newly generated payment reference number can now be seen in your PRN list, which you can access anytime by tapping the “Generate PRN” button at the bottom of the screen.

How to View and Generate Your SSS PRN Using the SSS Website

If you don’t have the SSS mobile app, you can view and generate your PRN by logging in to your My.SSS account. If you don’t have an account yet, you may read this article to learn how to register and activate your My.SSS account.

Step 1: Open the SSS member portal

On your web browser, go to the SSS member portal at https://member.sss.gov.ph. Login to your account using your user ID and password. If you lost or forgot your password, check out this guide on how to recover or reset it.

Once logged in, click “PAYMENT REFERENCE NUMBER (PRN)” on the navigation menu. Click “Contributions” and then “Generate PRN.”

How to Get Your PRN Via Text

You can easily get your payment reference number using the SSS Text Inquiry system. But first, you’ll need to register by texting SSS REG <SS Number> <Birthday MM/DD/YYYY> to 2600. For example: SSS REG 0529310429 07/20/1990.

To get your SSS payment reference number, text SSS PRN <SS Number> <PIN> <Birthday MM/DD/YYYY> to 2600. For example: SSS PRN 0529310429 1234 07/20/1990.

Each text inquiry costs ₱2.50 for Globe and Smart subscribers and ₱2.00 for Sun subscribers.

How to Get Your PRN By Calling the SSS Helpline

Another way to get your SSS payment reference number is by calling the SSS Helpline at 920-6446 to 55 or the local toll-free hotline 1-800-10-2255-777.

The helpline is open 24 hours a day from Mondays to Fridays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete a PRN?

Technically, it’s not possible to delete an existing PRN. However, you can generate a new PRN with the same applicable period as the existing PRN. The old PRN will then be replaced by the new one.

How can I change or edit a PRN?

To change or edit a PRN including its contribution amount, simply generate a new PRN using the same applicable period as the existing PRN that you want to modify.

Can I split a PRN into smaller amounts?

You can split an existing PRN by generating a new PRN that includes a month that is covered by the old PRN. For example, if the old PRN covers the months of January to March, you can generate a new PRN covering the month of February. The old PRN will then be discarded.

How do I use my PRN to pay my SSS contribution?

You can use your payment reference number when paying your contributions at SSS-accredited banks and payment centers, as well as online payment partners such as GCash and Maya. Read this article to learn how to pay your SSS contributions online.

Conclusion

As an SSS voluntary or OFW member, it’s your obligation to pay your monthly contributions on time to be eligible for social security benefits.

You will need the correct payment reference number in order to pay your SSS contributions properly. A wrong PRN may cause your payment to fail or be delayed, so make sure that you provide the correct payment reference number when you remit your contributions at an SSS authorized payment center or at online payment channels like GCash and PayMaya.

If you have any questions or concerns about your SSS membership, call the toll-free hotline number 1-800-10-2255777 or send an email to member_relations@sss.gov.ph.
