President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed Proclamation No. 1427, setting the official list of regular holidays and special non-working days for 2027. The proclamation was signed on September 8 and includes 10 regular holidays, four special non-working days, four additional special non-working days, and one special working day.

Near-miss worth noting: Bonifacio Day (Tuesday, November 30) sits right after a normal weekend (November 27–28), with only Monday, November 29 as a working day in between – a single leave day would turn that into a 4-day break (November 27–30).
For workers and employers, several of the fixed-date holidays in 2027 fall on weekends. New Year’s Day, Araw ng Kagitingan, and Christmas Eve fall on a Friday, while Labor Day, Independence Day, Ninoy Aquino Day, and Christmas Day fall on a Saturday. This affects how many consecutive rest days employees will have around each occasion, since a weekend holiday does not automatically shift a private-sector workday, unlike a holiday that lands on a weekday.
The proclamation directs the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to issue implementing guidelines. It takes effect immediately upon signing.
Separate proclamations for Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha will follow once the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos determines the actual dates, based on the Islamic (Hijra) calendar, the lunar calendar, or astronomical calculations.
The observance of August 21 as Ninoy Aquino Day is mandated under Republic Act 9256, marking the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. December 8 is likewise a recurring special non-working holiday for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
The proclamation states that designating November 2 and December 24, 2027 as additional special non-working days is meant to give families more time for All Souls’ Day observances and Christmas Eve preparations, and to support domestic tourism.
