As a Zoom user, it’s probably a good idea to change your profile picture so that other users will know and recognize you. However, some users don’t know how to change their profile picture in Zoom, so we’ve come up with this tutorial to teach you how to do it.

Due to online classes and remote work arrangements, video teleconferencing apps like Zoom and Google Meet have exploded in popularity. These apps allow you to organize one-on-one or group meetings using a computer or mobile phone with an Internet connection. Once you’ve arranged a meeting, you can then send an invitation to the participants to join your meeting at a scheduled date and time. The participants can join your meeting by clicking the link in the invitation email.

Zoom is a video teleconferencing software that allows multiple people to participate in “Zoom calls” lasting up to 40 minutes. Paid users enjoy extra features such as the ability to host up to 1,000 participants (instead of 100 for the free plan) and a group meeting limit of 30 hours. Hosts and participants must have the Zoom client (desktop or mobile app) installed on their device in order to join meetings.

When you first signed up for Zoom, you will have a mostly empty profile with a default avatar or profile picture. That’s good enough in most cases and you can start hosting and participating in online meetings straight away. But if you want your co-workers or classmates to identify you easily, you should take the time to change your Zoom profile picture to something that represents you. It only takes a few minutes to change your profile picture in Zoom regardless if you are using it on your computer or your mobile phone.

How to Change Zoom Profile Picture on Desktop

If you’re using Zoom using the desktop application on your computer or laptop, it’s relatively easy to change your profile picture. If you don’t have the Zoom desktop client installed on your PC, you can download it on this page.

Here is how to change your profile picture:

Step 1: Launch the Zoom desktop application and login to your account if you haven’t done so already. Click the Settings icon (cog wheel) as shown on the screenshot below.
