GCash is a great e-wallet app that has proven to be an indispensable addition to the daily lives of many Filipinos. However, some GCash users have expressed their desire to deactivate or delete their GCash accounts for a variety of reasons.

One reason why you would want to delete your GCash account is if you have a new GCash account and you want to delete your old one. Back in the days when you had to text some keywords to register to GCash, some users (including yours truly) opened GCash accounts that have since been forgotten. I probably have opened two or three GCash accounts that way (that was before GCash had a mobile app). Although those old and forgotten GCash accounts are better left undisturbed, there might be some who want those old accounts gone for good.

Another reason to deactivate or delete your GCash account is if you no longer have any use for GCash. Maybe you prefer another mobile wallet like PayMaya and you want to ditch GCash. Although GCash is the most popular e-wallet in the Philippines, it’s far from perfect and it has some deficiencies that make its competitors like PayMaya and Coins.ph more viable alternatives.

As far as I know, GCash does not suspend or delete accounts that have remained inactive for a period of time. It’s not like a bank where you will be charged monthly maintenance fees and your account will get deleted if it was dormant or inactive for some time. If you don’t like GCash or have no use for it anymore, you can just leave it as it is. There’s no real need to delete or deactivate your GCash account.

If you got yourself a new mobile number or if you lost your old number, you can change your mobile number in GCash. All you have to do is to submit a support ticket and mention that you want to change your mobile number. You may have to provide additional personal information to prove your identity. There’s no option to change your GCash number in the mobile app yet.

Without further ado, here are some ways to delete your GCash account permanently.

Dial *143# to Delete Your GCash Account

One way to delete your GCash account is to dial the USSD code *143# on your Globe-powered phone and then choose Account and then Suspend.

Hi Gersel! Kindly dial *143#, choose GCash, then Account, and Suspend to deactivate your account. Thank you.

As the solution is more than two years old, it may no longer work. Some GCash users have reported that the option to suspend your GCash account is not available in the USSD menu. We tried dialing *143# and true enough, we couldn’t find the option to suspend or delete my GCash account. Going to GCash > Account only shows the option to check the balance and change the PIN.

It’s possible that the option to delete a GCash account is still available in older Globe SIM cards. You may try dialing *143# and navigating to GCash to find the option to suspend or delete your GCash account. Take note that this only works with Globe SIMs.

Submit a Support Ticket

If dialing *143# doesn’t allow you to delete your GCash account, you can reach out to GCash by submitting a support ticket. You can also do it on the GCash app by clicking “Help” and then “Submit a Ticket.”

Enter the following details in your support ticket:

  • Email address – Enter the email associated with your GCash account.
  • GCash-registered full name
  • GCash-registered mobile number
  • Concern category – Choose “My GCash Account” in the dropdown box.
  • Explain your concern – Write down your concern. For example: “I would to request to delete my GCash account because I no longer want to use it.”
  • Attachments – Add a screenshot (optional).

Click “Submit” to send your support ticket. GCash will usually respond within the day, so check your email regularly.

Email GCash Support to Request Deactivation

Another way to request deactivation or deletion of your GCash account is to email GCash at [email protected].

Here’s a template that you can use to email GCash:

Hello GCash,

I would like to request deletion of my GCash account with mobile number 09999999999. The reason is that I already have a new GCash account. Here are my account details for verification:

Name: Juan dela Cruz
Address: Ma. Clara Street, Tondo, Manila
Mobile Number: 09123456789
Email Address: [email protected]

I would also like to opt out of your marketing emails and SMS. Thank you very much.

Kind regards,
Juan dela Cruz

Don’t forget to change the personal information with your own. Write down “Request to Delete GCash Account” as the subject and send it to [email protected].

Wait for GCash to respond, which may take up to 3 days. GCash may request for additional information such as your account balance and the date and time of your last login. Do not provide your MPIN, even if asked. GCash support will not ask for your MPIN.

Wrapping Up

At the moment, there is no option to delete your GCash account on the mobile app, so you will have to do a little bit of work to deactivate your account permanently. We hope that in the future, GCash provides a convenient way to deactivate or delete your GCash account on the mobile app. For the meantime, you can use the aforementioned methods to have your GCash account deleted.
