Do you want to add money to your GCash wallet using your PayPal account? PayPal is one of several GCash cash-in options in which you can transfer money from your PayPal account to your GCash wallet instantly. But before you can add money that way, you must first link PayPal to GCash.
PayPal is the largest and most well-known online payments platform with over 300 million users worldwide. PayPal allows you to receive money from anywhere in the world using only your email address. You don’t need a bank account or credit card to open a PayPal account, although they are needed if you want to withdraw your PayPal funds. With a PayPal account, you can do business around the world. You can send money to a friend in Germany, for example, or receive salary from your employer in the United States.
If you are a freelancer or entrepreneur who receives payments via PayPal, you can transfer money from your PayPal account to your GCash wallet. There are other ways to withdraw money from PayPal such as transferring to a bank account or debit card. But with GCash, you can withdraw your PayPal funds within minutes, compared with several days for bank transfers. Best of all, PayPal to GCash transfers are totally free, no matter how big or small the withdrawal amount is.
That is why I’ve started to use GCash to withdraw my hard-earned money from PayPal. I still use my UnionBank account to transfer large amounts of more than $1,000 (simply because GCash has a monthly transaction limit of ₱100,000) but for smaller fund transfers, I use GCash.
The downside is that I have to convert my US dollar funds to Philippine pesos first before transferring to GCash. Other than that, GCash is my second favorite way to withdraw my PayPal funds because it’s fast, free and easy. I receive the money almost instantly and I don’t pay any transaction fees when transferring money from PayPal to GCash.

How to Link PayPal to GCash
Linking your PayPal and GCash accounts is required before you can transfer money from PayPal to GCash. This is a one-time procedure so you don’t have to link them again every time you want to transfer money from PayPal. Only one PayPal account can be linked to a GCash account at a time, but you can unlink your PayPal account to link another one.
Step 1: Open GCash app
To start, open the GCash app and login using your MPIN. Once logged in, click the hamburger menu on the upper-left corner.
Step 2: Go to My Linked Accounts and choose PayPal
On the sliding menu, select “My Linked Accounts.”
Choose “PayPal” from the list.
Enter your PayPal email. Make sure that your first and last names in GCash are exactly the same as in your PayPal account. Click “Link” to continue.
Step 3: Authorize GCash and login to PayPal
Click “Authorize” to grant GCash permission to transfer funds from your PayPal account to your GCash (G-xchange Inc.) account.
Enter your PayPal email or mobile number. Tap “Next.”
Enter your PayPal password and click “Log In.”
If your PayPal account credentials are correct, your PayPal and GCash accounts will be linked successfully. You will receive a confirmation email of the successful linking.
Click “Close and Continue.”
Step 4: Your PayPal is now linked to GCash
Congratulations! Your PayPal account is now linked to GCash. You can now transfer your PayPal funds to GCash directly on the GCash app.

How to Unlink PayPal from GCash
Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to unlink PayPal from GCash. In the PayPal confirmation email, it mentions that you can view your preapproved payments in your PayPal account. The idea is that you can cancel a preapproved or automatic payment, thus unlinking that account from PayPal.
However, GCash or G-xchange Inc. cannot be found in the automatic payments section in PayPal. For this reason, some GCash users have asked in the PayPal community forums about how to unlink PayPal from GCash.
To unlink your existing PayPal account, you will have to authorize and link a new PayPal account. This will unlink the existing one.
The problem is that most of us only have one PayPal account. In fact, it’s not recommended to have two or more PayPal personal accounts as this might lead to account suspensions. You cannot link someone else’s PayPal account either because the first and last names must be the same for both PayPal and GCash accounts.
If you really want to unlink a PayPal account, especially for security reasons, you may contact GCash customer support by calling 2882 or submitting a support ticket.
Final Considerations
You’ve just learned how to link PayPal to GCash. By linking your GCash and PayPal accounts, you can easily and instantly transfer your PayPal funds. There are no transaction fees and you don’t have to wait for several days before you receive your money.
