The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is the Philippines’ premier basketball league as well as the oldest professional basketball league in Asia. You might be wondering where to watch the PBA live in the comfort and safety of your home. Wonder no more because we’ll reveal the websites and apps where you can watch a PBA livestream for free.

Despite the rise of other leagues such as the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), the PBA still remains the ultimate form of basketball entertainment in the country. The league has been around for more than 45 years and shows little signs of slowing down. In fact, there’s a brisk demand for free PBA livestreams and online broadcasts especially with most people staying at home.

The teams currently plying their trade in the 2022 PBA Governors’ Cup are:

  • Barangay Ginebra San Miguel
  • Blackwater Bossing
  • Converge FiberXers
  • Magnolia Hotshots
  • Meralco Bolts
  • NLEX Road Warriors
  • NorthPort Batang Pier
  • Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters
  • Rain or Shine Elasto Painters
  • San Miguel Beermen
  • Terrafirma Dyip
  • TNT Tropang Giga

You can watch the PBA on TV via the TV5 channel, but if the channel is not available in your area or cable provider, you can turn to PBA livestreams on various Facebook pages, mobile apps and the PBA website. If you’re not able to watch the PBA livestream (such as when you are at work), you can listen to the PBA live radio stream instead.

Unlike the NBA League Pass where you have to pay a fee to watch live NBA games, PBA livestreams are totally free of charge. This is great news for basketball-crazed Filipinos who can’t afford to pay the monthly subscription fees just to watch their favorite sport. All you have to do is to open the website or app on your smartphone or computer and watch live PBA games using your WiFi connection or mobile data – no subscriptions and fees to worry about!

So without further delay, here are the places where you can watch PBA live games online for free.

Watch the PBA Live on Facebook

What better way to watch the PBA live than on Facebook? There are several Facebook pages that livestream PBA games so all you have to do is to follow them and you’ll get a notification when they start streaming.

If you’re browsing Facebook using your mobile data, first make sure that your data promo has enough data balance to stream the live video. Some data promos will use your open access data (instead of your Facebook data) when you’re watching videos on Facebook. In any case, the Facebook app will warn you when you’re about to use your open access data.

You can try subscribing to an unlimited data promo such as Smart Unli Data 99 or Smart Unli Data 299. That way, you don’t have to worry about how much mobile data you have consumed. We all know how data-intensive livestream videos are. Read this article to know more about Smart unlimited data promos.

Take note that Facebook livestreams are only available to viewers in the Philippines.

Smart Sports Facebook Page

Smart Sports is the sports marketing arm of Smart Communications, the largest mobile telecommunications firm in the country. The Smart Sports Facebook page broadcasts the PBA live every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Aside from PBA livestreams, the page also posts highlights after every game.

PBA Livestreaming Websites

Aside from Facebook, there are also websites where you can watch live PBA games for free. For the best viewing experience on these websites, use a strong and reliable WiFi Internet connection.

PBA Official Website

Watch the PBA live on the PBA website

The PBA official website at www.pba.ph has a livestreaming page where you can watch the latest PBA games on your computer or mobile phone. Aside from PBA livestreams, the PBA website also has play-by-play commentary for those who can’t watch the games.

Visit Website

Smart GigaFest Website

The Smart GigaFest website airs all PBA games every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so definitely visit this website if you don’t want to miss any games. The only drawback is that you can only watch using your Smart mobile data. You cannot use your WiFi connection to watch the PBA live on the Smart GigaFest website.

TrueID Philippines

TrueID is a streaming website with a vast library of trending videos on comedy, anime, food, entertainment, sports and more. The TrueID website provides a PBA Rush livestream for those who can’t watch the livestream on the PBA Rush Facebook page.

Watch the PBA Live on Cignal Play

Cignal Play is an online video streaming application by satellite TV provider Cignal. With the Cignal Play app, you can watch movies, TV shows and livestreams, including the PBA, on your mobile device.

You don’t need a Cignal subscription to use Cignal Play. It’s totally free and you can watch PBA live games with a free Cignal Play account. You can download Cignal Play from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS).

How to Watch the PBA Live Outside the Philippines

Are you living outside the Philippines and you want to watch PBA livestreams online? The problem with most PBA livestreams is that they are geo-locked, which means that they are restricted to viewers within the Philippines. Filipinos living abroad, especially the OFWs, will normally have a hard time following their favorite PBA teams due to these restrictions.

But you don’t have to visit some sketchy and unknown website just to watch Barangay Ginebra or your favorite team play. Just download and install Surfshark VPN, connect to a Philippines server and you can start watching all the PBA livestreams you want. Surfshark VPN is available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices.

Note: Surfshark VPN is a paid subscription but you can get a free 7-day trial by downloading the Android or iOS app.

Conclusion

The PBA may have lost some of its luster through the years, but there’s no doubt that it’s still a major attraction among hoop fans all over the country. It’s a good thing that there are PBA online livestreams so that you can get your regular basketball fix even if you can’t watch it on TV. Best thing of all, these PBA livestreams are totally free and accessible to viewers in the Philippines.
